Pumpernickel Raisin Bagels

I know you have been asking yourself what is a pumpernickel bagel made out of? We will get to that. First a funny story of what the term Pumpernickel means. In German it means farting devil. No joke. Google it. I did. Huffinton Post has a good article on it. Apparently pumpern means to to break wind and Nickel, a take on the name Nicholas, which is associated with goblins or devilish characters. So just like its cousin the Pumpernickel Bagel, Pumpernickel Raisin Bagels could be called well, Farting Devil Raisin Bagels? Well that would be doing a dis-service to this fine bagel.
